Recently I pre-ordered a Sony playstation 3 game title @ S$69 at SPowerHouse.
It is a region 3 blue-ray disc (English). Cheapest place to get in S'pore.
This is the last sequel of MGS. The first MGS was release on Sony Playstation and subsequent series: MGS2 & MGS3 were released on Sony Playstation 2. Time flies... we are now playing on 3rd generation gaming console. Some source argued to be the 6th generaton gaming console already.

I was told by the shop owner that someone on earth had completed the game. I have no doubts on this because they should be the game tester or game reviewer.

MGS4 will be release on Thur 12/06/2008 in Singapore. Stay tune!

It's been a long time since I last blog. I shall go ahead with the first post of the Lunar New Year period...

Below is the sentence repeatedly countless times by Stephan Chow which inspires us: “我们虽然穷，但不乱说脏话。我们不去偷，我们不去抢。不属于自己的东西，我们不会拿。你要努力读书，将来做一个有用的人。

The movie was a short one. It lasted for 1h 40mins. And to my surprise, the lead child actor (Stephan Chow's son) is a little girl not a boy. Her real name is *Xu Jiao, 徐娇. In the movie another main character is the CG alien dog. You will like him/her as it is very adorable.

To be frank when I watched the scene about the dismissal of Stephan Chow in the movie, tears flow down my cheeks... he died from a great fall at a worksite. The alien dog revive him back to life but given his/her life away was so touching as well.

I will recommend you to watch this movie because it sort of giving me the message that one must cherish the time and togetherness with their family. Although the storyline of this movie is weak... it is an enriching experience watching the cute alien dog facial expressions. You will sure like it!

Apple iphone is here unofficially

Tks to Fedex China /US & VpostUSA, iphone finally arrived at my doorstep after 11 days of travelling. If not for the recent price cut of Iphone, I won't even consider buying an iphone.
The total amount I spent to bring in the iphone cost only S$711.

On Thur night, Singpost postman called out my name aloud. At the moment I realised the first generation of Iphone is finally here!

I proceeded to unwrapped the Iphone & carefully take up and hold it in my palm and admired for a minute.

Before the arrival of the iPhone, I have searched the WWW for guides to unlock the phone so that it can be usable in S'pore Telco network. The iPhone I have received was locked to AT&T network. Based on the tutorial guides I have obtained, I managed to unlock the iPhone successfully. I really got hold-up for a while because one of the steps require you to reset the iPhone to default setting.... my Internet connection got cut off
suddenly and I have to re-download the file from Apple network. All thanks to my stupid Linksys router.

An unlocked iPhone is a superb device. It can do almost anything and is a top range multimedia phone.

Mistake

in this world, who does not commit mistake in life?
Some mistake can be fatal while others may cause undesirable problems to people.
Learning from mistake is a long-term process... Once mistake is being made, we can only try to resolve. Putting urself in other people shoes when someone committed a mistake... Instead of blaming the one... we can show empathy towards them. of course we can avoid mistake but sometime we try to be extra becareful... things still turn up badly. What we can do is be more forcus & relise our mistake with a maturity mind...with that we can slowly overcome mistake.

Who is Roy Li? You know Li Fei Hui (黎沸揮)? He is a music teacher, song-writer, lyricist & a former singer.

Went to Roy Li’s concert @ the Esplanade Recital Studio... An hr concert at the price of $38. Feel that the concert is short.

He brought his 3 students along (2^nd season Project SuperStar contestants) to sing in his concert. I think this show is meant for his students. Marketing gimmick in the making... Live concert experience is really fantastic... You can have an up-close viewing pleasure during the live performance which can’t be compared by watching behind your TV. No photo taking is allowed in thes studio hence I can’t show you any photo.

Quite sometime back, I reserved a book - "Chicken Soup for the Singapore Soul". I have been wondering why no one from NLB notifies me in regards to the collection date. I went to library today (Sat, 01/09/2007) and wanted to clear my doubts at Tampines Regional Library. Before I inquiry about the book status, I proceeded to make payment for the book reservation fee using the cash card.

To my surprise, the staff told me that they have notified me via email (xxx@starhub.net.sg). This email account of mine was non-existent as it was terminated already. I can't collect the book as the collection has expired. Due to the fact that I could not login to update my profile online, I failed to receive any notification to collect the book. I was told by the customer service staff that she can't do anything & the system does not have an option to do that. I think they need to streamline their processes!

My NRIC was lost a few months back & police report was made. I understand that my login account at NLB official website ought to be terminated in case of unauthorized access. But can the staff of NLB send me a snail mail regarding this after you have taken the trouble to disable my login account?

Lastly, I need to know since I have already paid the reservation fee, may I have the book?
If the answer is no, kindly refund back my money - $1.55!

I chanced upon a blog which belongs to an ex colleague. She and her
business partner became an entrepreneur recently. They come out with a
toilet seat sanitizer for personal use. Not a new product but there is
a market value for it. The sanitizer is a multi-purpose product. It can
be use almost anywhere which our hands will come incontact with. After
the SARs period, human beings are more caution then before. Most of us
learn to practice personal hygiene. I think this is a great product for women and travellers.

Last day of "Big Fool Lee"

It was my first time stepping into a theatre to watch a drama play. I really enjoyed watching "Big Fool Lee". After the show, I come to know more about Singapore's famous cantonese story teller, Lei Dai Soh. I know nuts about this master before watching this drama.

I asked my parents whether they know Lei Dai Soh. They know about Lei Dai Soh as the famous story teller. I am not surprise by that as we all now know that he was once a famous news & story teller narrating in chinese dialect.

He passed on after a heart attack at his home while watching television programme. Due to his unwillingness to accept changes around him. His career as a cantonese story teller came to an end in the 80s. At that time, the Singapore government launched the "Speak Chinese Champaign" & banned all dialect broadcasts on radio. He was asked to narrate in mandrain which isn't his mother tongue. He did tried to perform story telling in mandrain but he eventually gave up. He can speak chinese but not fluent enough. Although stubborn he was a very determined person when come to his job.

The drama play was 3 hrs long with 15 mins intermission. I was sitting close to the stage. I am excited and delighted that I can be so near to the actors/actresses. You can really see how well they performed in the best view.

Visited CISCO Academy as part of my induction programme held @ work. Cisco Academy is located in the vicinity of Old Police Academy at Thomson Road. A place where trainees will undergo 7 weeks of training before they are deployed to various key installations in Singapore.

During the staff induction programme, various speakers from each business units of CISCO will give a talk on their business structure/functions.

Walk around and saw this on display in their training room:

Cisco Academy also housed a mock bank for training purposes. The academy provides apprehensive trainings from computer based learning to hands on practical skills.

A complaint about the quality control of SAF officers

There was this case of an NS officer, 2LTA (Lee) Li Hong Yi wrote a lengthy email and shoot all the way up to Defence Minister, COA (Chief of Army), CDF (Chief of Defence Force) without going thru proper chain of command. His mistake was partly due to his dissatisfaction towards SAF's system.

The email was later leaked onto the WWW as a result of him copied the email to many unrelated recipients.

I must admire his bravery act & salute him if I get a chance to see him. This case will not have to go public if the unit take a serious action against any complaints.

2LTA (Lee) Li Hong Yi is the 3rd son of our Singapore's Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong.

SAF said that he will be reprimanded & charged. What punishments will he be getting is not yet known.

Received some job offers today and had decided to join one of them. This time the working location will be more accessible from where I live. Hopefully this job will allow me to gain new learning experience and soft skills like project management & presentation skill in a dynamic environment. My new job requires me to work on projects on security solutions. To me the job scopes will certainly be different from what I have done in the past.

On my way back home yesterday, saw Daniel from mortar platoon. He was heading to the airport, sending her friend off to Australia for good. Chit chatted with him and he said that he is currently studying PT for UOM in Management at SIM. Hope he do well for his studies. He also complained that his employer was a little displeased about his commitment towards studies. I hope more employers will practice work life balance. This is the best benefit that employee can get from them.

Just finished watching the AFC Asian Cup 2007 on Star Sport channel.
The match b/w Malaysia & China from Group C. China hammer Malaysia by 5 goals. Malaysia team only managed to score 1 goal. China players are indeed better in soccer sport. This coming weekend, China will be playing against Iran. The match will be showing live once again on cable TV.

I attended a NON-ICT IPPT test last saturday. Unfortuantely, I ran 13min 01s for the killer station, 2.4KM run.
I failed by 21s again. Same fate as my in-camp IPPT test result. I will try harder & aim for incentive.

ICT Part 2 of 2

Finally my ICT has ended. The outfield ex was a hectic one. Having to endure the wet and hot weather in the field. On the first night, it rains. Everyone have to squeeze into the armoured vehicle with hatch closed. Those who sat near the ramp door was drenched. Hot and stuffy. Perspiring while I slept.

During the exercise, the trainer was giving his typical lecture in outfield. It was indeed very boring. Telling us to execute the right drills. At times I was not able to concentrate. I felt tired and sleepy. Overall for our section, we got RECON 1 after the exercise. I was rather surprised because most of us did not execute the right drills & our SOPs are mostly incorrect.

Dismounted from our vehicle and make our way by foot to flank the enemy. My section mate and I were unlucky & partly due to poor judgment... we stepped onto quicksand. We were quite helpless at that time... trying our best to get up because we were weigh down by something heavy on our body... we failed badly and continuing sinking. The quicksand reaches until our knee cap & stop there. Luckily it was not too deep! We continued to struggle for a while. Help was on the way... a few AI soldiers behind us came to our rescue. We removed our weapons & other stuffs and passed it to them. After which, I leaned myself forward and with both hands pressed to the ground and escaped from the quicksand. My section mate was assisted by AI soldiers. All thanks to their help we were able to get out of quicksand without much panic.

I failed my 2.4KM run in IPPT which was held in camp. I failed by merely 21sec. Haiz, I will have to train for stamina soon! Overall, our battalion IPPT results was horrendous.

Before we out process from camp, we were invited to a buffet lunch for Battalion Cohesion Day. Our OC wishes us well and good luck in our civilian life. CSM shaked our hands to wish us well while we proceed to the counter to scan our 11B for out process. My 3SG, a VC wishes me good luck in my job & work hard till SAF can't even afford to pay you to come back. Haha... Called a silver cab and went back home with a coy mate & platoon mate.

During this ICT, I found out that some friends are married or soon to be a father. Many of us are still struggling in our stagnant working life. Life moves fast. Before you know it you are already old. No more turning back times.I over heard my platton mate asking another "Do you want to slog your life away in your current job or you want to make things happen. Some people are not motivated to explore their options in life. I remembered I told my buddy that one must be willing to step forward to try out new opportunities. If you ask me whether have I found my goals yet? My answer is no. I am still in the midst of finding the way I am going to lead my future. Many people says that you are still young and you still have the luxury time to explore. To me, I feel that time does not stop and wait for you to catch up. We must always on the lookup for better opportunities. In simple term, life is like a roller coaster. My OC is working in a Shipyard industry & work PT as a property agent. How many people can be like him willing to work hard by holding multiple jobs? And his primary job required him to work than 12 hrs a day. His stories motivates me. Only thru hardship and perseverance will bring you success. OC is a high caliber man. He is well respected by men. He treated us well and fight for our welfare. He was one of the receiver of Singapore President’s Scholarships. A friendly officer which relates well with his men.

Clinic visit

I went to consult the specialist. I got rashes & heat rash on me after reservist. I have this skin condition called eczema which means I will get red and itchy rashes easily on my body whenever I sweat or suffer under extreme hot weather. But after taking the medicine and applying medicated cream I feel much better. There is no solution to it. Doctor says I must stay indoor. I am tired of visiting the doctor because of my family medical history. The consultation and medicine cost me $70! I am planning to deposit the $70 into my bank & now its gone. If only I do not have such skin condition, I can save more.

ICT Part 1 of 2

Booked out yesterday afternoon after spending 4 days at Sungei Gedong Camp.

On tues morning I took a cab down to Lionel's place to fetch him. This guy make me waited for 15 to 20mins. When he finally appears, he was bare foot while holding his boots & duffel bag. He was supposed to standby but he did not. The bloody taxi fare meter was still running. Anyway, I just laugh it off. After Lionel's place, the taxi travelled to another location to fetch our platoon mate. In the end, we had to pay $32+ for the taxi fare.

Meet up with our platoon mates. Only a few guys did not turned up for this high key ICT.

Well, the training was tough esp. the live firing exercise which was held on Fri morning. We woke up at 4am!
During the live firing ex, I was pretty exhausted because I have to run long distance back to cover point after successfully ignited the military chargers. To ensure safety we have to years go through dry runs and that took away all my stamina. In the midst of live firing I was feeling giddy and decided to take a panadol from Medic to refresh myself.

In this ICT, I found that the SAF is now following safety better than before. Making sure that there are no loopholes to be found. Everything we do, we must follow the training safety regulations. I wouldn't want to risk myself getting injured because of carelessness.

At the vehicle shed, saw the familiar obsolete Armored Personnel Carrier. Understand from my buddy who is a driver that our vehicles were in used for many years ever since the World War.

Weather was very hot and humid. Water parade is a must. Sweat profusely and feeling uncomfortable.
Army food was delicious except the breakfast.

I will be booking in tonight to complete the remaining training for next week. 3D/2N outfield awaits me.
So sad...

J Bar @ M Hotel

Last night, we went to J Bar for a drink. 3 of us were there for relaxation before we begin our OT for early Sat morning. We ordered a bottle of Martell Gordon Bleu. Met a Snr engineer from Mediacorp Technologies at J Bar. Asked him qns on MobTV. MobTV is a pay internet TV which allows you to watch Mediacorp TV programmes on your PC. The purpose of having to work in the wee morning hours is to learn the hotel system. I was there to learn the SOP steps to correctly shut down all the various system interfaces and bringing it up once maintenance is done. We have to wait for our bar outlet to close before we can perform any system administration. The time was about 5:30am... I finally can rest. Rested in the complimentary guest room with another colleague. Slept for a while before leaving at about 9am. I hate it when I do not have a good rest. I have to take a nap in the afternoon & now I am here updating my blog. Feeling more energetic now.

Just downloaded my ICT Training Programme schedule & feel demoralizing why I still need to go through all these trainings that I hated so much! This time round is going to be a high key ICT & expected to last for about 2 weeks. But one good thing is that SAT & SUN is not block for any training. Perhaps we can book out on Fri & return back on the next Mon. I hope so… Pls do not confine us in camp! We want to gain our freedom as a civilian.

《东海战》 Movie Preview

Legend of the sea is the english title for this chinese animation movie. The movie was a short one. It lasted for about an hour or so. As I had won 2 complimentary tickets, I invited my ex-colleague for a movie treat. I was actually expecting some celebrity stars to turn up for this movie preview which was held yesterday evening at GV Marina but there were none except staffs of 《我报》 & a DJ from UFM100.3. His name is Ken. I never really know about him until yesterday's event. Guess he must be one of the new DJs at UFM100.3.

The movie was a disappointing one for me as the storyline was pretty simple and the ending scene was much expected. Overall I will give a personal rating of 3/5. If you are feeling dull or moody, this movie will provide a mild laughter created by the sea creatures.

There is this Starfish who like to address himself as 'Star Lee'. In the movie he is a fighter & fight like Bruce Lee. He is hilarious & cute.

A Draco Plush Toy will be given but yet to collect it due to a delay in the shipment of these toys.

Congrats to myself! I had won a pair of movie tickets once again. This time I got it from "My Paper" movie contest. Still can recall a few months back I was lucky and won a GV ticket from Wireless@SG lucky draw which I had signed up an account with QMax provider during PC Show last Dec.

If you ask me whether I enjoy participating in all kinds of contest. My reply to you absolutely!
Ever since I was a kid, I will mailed out those quizzes found in the newspaper or magazine and hope to win a prize.

Online forums. I was the first pioneer member of CNET Singapore Discussion Forums at that time. (The local forum has been closed down for quite sometime) There was this contest which requires member to participate actively in their forum in order to win some goodies bag from CNET S'pore. I was one of the lucky members to get spotted by the administrator/moderator. I was eventually announced as the winner!

Other forums like VR-ZONE also have similar contest in the past. I think the primary idea is to attract more members to their website. I was blessed & got some prizes such as computer heat sink fan & posters from the tough competition. I was an avid forumer in the online discussion forums & have gain some small rewards which makes surfing the WWW more interesting & enjoyable experience.

Finally the news coverage was published in yesterday's 《我报》 free bilingual newspaper. I knew about it only after someone informed me. My middle chinese name was spelled incorrectly as I provide her with the wrong word. Silly me. It was my fault. LOL.

Yesterday evening went for dinner gathering with my ex colleagues @ Bishan, J8. Initially, the plan was to dine at Sakae Sushi but they do not have approved Halal label. And so we went to Swensen restaurant to fill our stomach instead. Swensen is Halal approved restaurant. As expected, we have to wait in the queue as there wasn't any available table for 5 adults and a child.

We have ordered the following dishes, Fish & Chip, Bake Rice (3), Calamari Rings, Fried Mushroom, Prawns at Port with hot beverages/dessert - Hot Chocolate, Hot Milk & Merri-Mint Ice-Cream.

Customer service at the restaurant was excellent. The food arrived at an acceptable time.

The photo on the top right hand side was taken at McDonald's Restaurant while we rested there for some TCSS session. Baby Jean posing for my mighty HP IPAQ 6828. This little child unveils her powerful brain. She can remember my name & passed events very well. A cheerful child whom like to hold my hand while walking. Hee... of course I am a little shy. :-)

New Shopping centre @ Tampines Central

Yeah! The construction site for the new 4th story shopping centre finally has begun work. The previous DBS Building & Pavilion were demolished to make way for Tampines 1 Shopping Centre. The building will be ready in the year 2009 & managed by AsiaMalls Management Pte Ltd.

The Pirates

No... I am not referring to the latest cinema movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Recently, saw the pirates again selling pirated movie DVDs in neighbourhoods such as Pasir Ris & Tampines. Can spot those watchers behaving suspiciously. Obviously, they are looking out for police.

They are pulliing out of S'pore as per the recent news. Nowadays, education providers are aiming to achieve more profit before education. Running a school is like running a business. No diff at all! If the business is deemed as not profitable, it is better to pull out earlier before bad debts start to form. Sad to see the very first setback story in S'pore. Btw, EDB will continue to invite foreign schools to build S'pore as the education hub.

On the way to the interview appointment @ Orchard. I was stopped for a short survey by a chinese reporter from SPH. She wanted to ask how often do I have eating session with family members every week.
And usually a reporter will work closely with a photographer. The photographer was busy taking photo of me.
I was of course not used to his action. In the mean time, I wonder when are they going to publish my comments and picture on the newspaper. LOL.

Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6

A month ago, my dad mentioned to me that he sold away his Toyota Altis 1.6 (2005) but did not mention which car he intends to replace it with. The car was slightly dented in the front.

Surprising, I found out that he bought Toyota Altis 1.6 (2007) again. This time with a change of colour, from red to silver. I did not question him why did he bought back the same car model. For me, I do not have any flair over Toyota Altis. Anyway, beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.

In Thailand, you can spot Altis on the road as they are used as taxi. Most people won't consider buying Altis for private use because it resemble as a taxi. This is a fact that puts people off from buying. By doing a research on the WWW, I have some news on the new Toyota Corolla Altis for the year 2007-2008. The new 2007 or 2008's Toyota Altis will have a new facelift.

At Bugis Junction shopping centre, I saw the book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad", selling at $17+! Books are expensive. But there is still a worldwide market for book fans. Anyway, I just want to mention that @ Vivocity, Singapore very own Book Store, PAGEONE is one of the largest book stores in Singapore after Kinokuniya & Borders. PAGEONE Group themselves is doing book publishing as well. They are specialised in architecture & design books. Pls support local publishing business!

Library... Surveyor...

I was at the National Library this afternoon. I exited the library and saw a pimpled face PRC surveyor approaching me. She wanted to do a short survey with me. The survey is about becoming rich by being an entrepreneur. She asked me whether I read this book before - "Rich Dad, Poor Dad". I replied that I have heard of this book title but did read. She also asked me whether I am a Singaporean as I don't look like a local. Haha... And she flattered me by saying that I spoke a clear and concise mandarin. Haha... Thank you, I said. In my mind, I do not agree with
her. Haha... She must be attracted to me lah by saying all these. LOL. Anyway, she asked me whether I am interested to attend seminar/talk by an entrepreneur speaker. I am keen on entrepreneurship, I am waiting for a chance. An entrepreneur must be willing to take risk, he/she must know the market well, experienced & well prepared. Not to forget always plan for an alternative backup plan in case your initial plans didn't work.

Nowadays, I have noticed that our libraries stored some collection of english comics. For reader whom love to read comic, you can pay a visit to a library near you. Those Marvel Comics especially...

Spiderman 4

Yes! Spiderman series will continue regardless of who will be the next Spiderman lead actor.
Tobey Maguire may or may not take part in Spiderman 4, said resources found on the WWW.
I have watched Spiderman movie series 1 to 3 & I will expect more series to come. More villians
appear in NY city. Stay tune for more Marvel Superheros on the big screen.

Reservist

Haiz... in camp training is here once again. I'll be leaving from makan007's airspace to S'pore Armour Training Centre for 11 days! Training surely will be tough for me as I seldom exercise nowadays. Stamina will not be in top condition. Sungei Gedong Camp is where I attend my training. The location is extremely Ulu. I hate that place as I stay very far at the other end of S'pore. Traveling to and fro b/w my house & camp is a mental torture to me. It is also costly if you report there by taxi. I was delighted when MINDEF announced last year that our reservist period will be shorten from 13 years to 10 years cycle. I also understand that it is compulsory to attend reservist training so I will try to be positive towards reservist.

Follow Law

I rented the latest "Just Follow Law" DVD from VideoEzy. The movie was directed by Jack Neo... our very own local movie director. It was quite costly to borrow DVD from VideoEZy as the charges was quite high. I rented the DVD for nightly & it cost me $6.00! Nevertheless, the movie was excellent! I love all the characters' joke. I think only Singaporean will find it interesting. I wonder is the box office in China will be as good as S'pore box office?
Anyway hope the movie, "Just Follow Law" will be showing in China soon. Hope that the locally produced movies can have a share in the asian movie market. For your information, Director Jack Neo is currently filming his next blockbuster move, 阿窿要大变! LOL.

CKS Memorial Hall

Chiang Kai-Shek Mermorial Hall has been renamed to National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall. The latest news on TV reveal that it is now closed & the president of Taiwan, Chen Shui-Bian wants to move CKS statue to elsewhere! What is on his mind? Majority of the Taiwanese public protested during & after the official ceremony to rename the CKS Memorial Hall. If you are going to visit Taiwan-Taipei soon, you can give this place of a miss as I heard that the hall will not be open for public viewing. Luckily I had visited CKS Memorial Hall before and managed to snap a few photos of the gigantic CKS statue. I will upload photographs in the near future. National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall is easily accessible by Metro Taipei. The nearest station is Chiang Kai-Shek Mermorial Hall.
